Gautam Gambhir told which players should be retained by RCB, said a big thing about this ‘trinity’

IPL 2021 : गौतम गंभीर ने बताया उस बल्लेबाज का नाम जो उड़ा देगा जसप्रीत बुमराह के होश, RCB से है नाता

Gautam Gambhir is the former India opener.

The team of Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of those teams in IPL history that have not won the IPL title even once. This team reached the final three times but could not win the final even once. In 2009, this team reached the final for the first time but lost to Deccan Charges. In 2011, Chennai Super Kings defeated this team in the final. Then this team reached the final in 2016 but could not win the title. Once again this team was defeated by the franchise of Hyderabad. Since 2013, Virat Kohli captained this team but could not get the title. IPL-2021 (IPL 2021) was his last season as captain in RCB. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated RCB in the match of Eliminator and ended its journey of this season.

Next year is the big auction of IPL. Before this, the big challenge before RCB is how to prepare their team. Like the rest of the teams, RCB will go through a phase of change as each franchise is allowed to retain only three players. Captain Gautam Gambhir, who won the IPL title twice to Kolkata, has told who RCB should retain next season. Gambhir said this while talking on ESPNcricinfo’s show ‘Yes or No’. When asked whether RCB should retain Kohli, Maxwell and Yuzvendra Chahal for the next season or not. He said, “Yes, I would like to add one thing that between Harshal Patel and Chahal one can be chosen. So it is up to him which of the two he wants to keep with him.”

Said this about de Villiers

Gambhir also talked about the possibility of retaining AB de Villiers of South Africa in the team. This season this batsman scored more than 300 runs in 15 matches. He did well in the first phase but could not succeed much in the UAE phase. When asked whether RCB should not retain de Villiers, he said, “Yes, because I think they will retain Glenn Maxwell because he is the future but de Villiers is not.”

Kohli’s announcement made a difference

Gambhir believes that Virat Kohli’s decision to step down from the captaincy did not bode well for the team’s players and it diverted their attention from giving their best. Gambhir said that RCB were playing well in the first leg and in such a situation, Kohli could have postponed his announcement. He could have done this at the end of the tournament. He said, “I think its deadline is not right. If he had to step down as a captain, he could have announced it after the tournament. He was in a position where it is not as if RCB were not in a position to qualify. He was in a position to qualify. I think he could have resigned from the captaincy after the tournament.”
