Iyer was definitely a part of the Test team in that series in the year 2017 but he did not get a chance to debut. After this Iyer was dropped from the Test squad and now Shreyas got a chance to debut after a full four years. Santosh Iyer said on his son’s debut, ‘Test cricket is the real cricket. I always wanted to see Shreyas play Test cricket. Today that dream has come true. Me and my wife are very happy. For the last four years, I was the same DP in which Shreyas Iyer lifted the Australia Test series trophy. I didn’t change it because I wanted the picture to remind him of his goal.
Shreyas was confident of becoming a Test cricketer
Shreyas Iyer’s father told that his son always believed in becoming a Test cricketer. Shreyas often told his father that the day would come when he would play Test cricket for India. Although his parents had no idea that their son would debut in the Kanpur Test itself. Shreyas Iyer showed in his first Test innings that he is a long race horse. Iyer scored an unbeaten 75 and now it is expected that he will also score a century on the second day.
