During the second Test match being played between England and New Zealand (ENG vs NZ), the former England captain rekindled the old dispute with his partner.
The second test match between England and New Zealand (ENG vs NZ) is being played at the Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham. In this match, the players of both the teams are struggling on the field. New Zealand’s batsmen made a big score in the first innings and hosts England started well against that score. But during this match, something happened in the commentary which should be surprising to see. Two England players on-air clashed again over their old dispute. These are Alastair Cook and Moeen Ali. A war of words broke out between these two. This talk started with the former captain of the England Test team, Joe Root. This is the case of Saturday’s game on the second day.
Let us tell you that while batting first in this match, New Zealand scored 553 runs in the first innings. For that, Daryl Mitchell scored 190 runs while playing a brilliant innings. Apart from him, Tom Blundle played an innings of 106 runs. No other batsman could even score a half-century. England ended the second day with 90 runs for the loss of one wicket.
Moeen Ali and Cook had an argument
The second day’s play was going on and former England captain Alastair Cook and Moeen Ali were doing commentary. Meanwhile, a dispute arose between these two four months ago. In a show during the Ashes, Moeen Ali said something in praise of Root which Cook did not like and this batsman lodged his protest. Moeen Ali has played under the captaincy of both Root and Cook. While praising Root, Ali said that he is more emotionally attached to his players. This was not liked by Cook and he said, “Are you doing evil to my captaincy.”
After this the debate between the two went on increasing. Cook said that Root dropped Moeen Ali several times. After this Moeen Ali told that he was fed from number one to number nine under the captaincy of Cook.
Sir Alastair Cook ️ “He told everyone I wasn’t a very good captain!”
Moeen Ali ️ “I was saying that Rooty has a lot more empathy for his players than you do!”

Cook raised the issue
Cook and Ali once again came face to face during the second test match on the second day. Both of them were in the commentary box. Cook laughed and said, “Moeen Ali has already told everyone that I was not a good captain and will not be able to be a good coach. So I feel I have nothing to defend here.”
Moeen Ali said in response that he had only said that Root has more empathy with his players. Apart from this, he did not comment anything else on Cook’s captaincy.
