The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has in a way complained to Kolkata Knight Riders and appealed to remove it, now it has to be seen what action KKR takes regarding this.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has made a special appeal to the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The CAB wants more and more players from Bengal in the KKR team and therefore appealed to the franchise to include more players from the state in its team. Players like former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Manoj Tiwary, Wriddhiman Saha, Shreevats Goswami and Mohammed Shami have been a part of KKR in the past but for the past few years no player from the state has won a two-time champion franchise. is not represented.
CAB President Abhishek Das said during the final of Inter School KMC Myers Cup at Eden Gardens Stadium, We would love to see more Bengal players in KKR. I have raised the issue of selection of players in the IPL from the respective region in the BCCI.
KKR disappointed
If we look at Kolkata’s IPL journey, it started under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly but the team failed in the initial seasons. Saha used to be a part of this team at that time. After this, Gautam Gambhir was given the command of this team from Delhi and he gave the title to this team in 2012, 2014. During this Manoj Tiwari was a part of this team. Last year Kolkata played the IPL final but lost to Chennai Super Kings. This time the team chose Shreyas Iyer as its captain and gave entry to many new players but the team could not do wonders and could not even reach the playoffs. Kolkata ended the season in seventh place.
New coach will be available in next season
Next season Kolkata will land under the guidance of the new coach. Because Brendon McCullum, who has been playing the role of the team’s head coach for the last three years, has left the team. He has now been appointed the coach of England’s Test team. Who gets this responsibility in his place, it will be a matter to be seen as well as whether the franchise accepts the appeal of CAB and buys Bengal players or not.
Saha left
Recently, Saha had told that he will no longer play for Bengal’s Ranji team. He had refused to play with the team before the Ranji Trophy knockout. Saha has won the IPL-2022 title with Gujarat Titans on Sunday itself.
