BCCI will field two new teams in the 2022 IPL, due to which almost all the players will be re-bid in the auction.
Apart from cricketers and existing franchises, every cricket fan is waiting for the announcement of two new teams of IPL. At the beginning of next week, this wait will also end and two new teams will be announced. But not only is there curiosity about the new teams, but everyone is also eyeing the news of the big auction to be held before the next season. How many players will the existing franchises be allowed to retain this time (IPL Players Retention)? How much amount will be allowed to spend? Such questions are arising in the minds of franchisees and fans with the end of IPL 2021 season. The answers to these questions are now visible, because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed on these issues.
cricket portal cricbuzz According to a report, an opinion has been reached between the BCCI and all the 8 franchises on the issue of retaining players. It has been claimed in the report that before the next auction, all the 8 franchises will be given the option of retaining 4-4 players. Till the last big auction, there was a rule to retain only 3 players, but it has been agreed to increase it before the new season. The BCCI will announce this important rule related to the auction in the next few days.
How many Indians, how many foreigners?
According to the rules being made regarding the retention, each team will be able to retain a maximum of 3 Indian players, while there will be an option to retain only two foreign players. Including both, not more than 4 players can be kept with them before the auction. At the same time, more than two uncapped players (who have not yet made their international debut), also cannot be retained.
However, with the increase in the number of players required for retention, the facility of ‘right to match’ cards given to the franchises in the previous auction will also end. Under Right to Match, the franchise can buy again their released player by placing a bid equal to the bid made by the other team.
Opportunity to spend more money in auction
Not only this, the amount (auction purse) received by the franchisees for the purchase of players in the auction is also set to be increased from Rs 85 crore to Rs 90 crore. No franchisee can spend more than Rs 90 crore in the auction. Part of the salary of the retained players will also be deducted from this auction purse. It is also proposed to increase the auction purse to Rs 95 crore and then Rs 100 crore alternately within the next two years.
Special discount for new teams
At the same time, as far as the new teams are concerned, they are also getting permission to sign 3 players separately from the auction. If the teams are not able to include famous Indian faces, then 2 out of three foreign players can be included with them. The BCCI will announce the new teams on October 25, the very next day of the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan to be held on October 24. After this the board can announce these important rules related to mega auction.
