Rohit Sharma has become the ODI and T20 captain of Team India. Virat Kohli will only take charge of the Test team.
Rohit Sharma was just not ready to be the T20 captain!
Since the loss of ODI captaincy from Virat Kohli, some such news is coming out which is forcing the fans to be shocked. It is reported that Rohit Sharma had placed a condition in front of the selectors of Team India that he would take over the command of the T20 team only when he would also get the captaincy of the ODI team. Let us tell you that Virat Kohli had announced to leave the T20 captaincy before the T20 World Cup. After this, the BCCI appointed Rohit Sharma as the T20 captain. During this, Rohit Sharma also placed the condition of ODI captaincy in front of the selectors. The big thing is that BCCI had no plan to hand over the command to Rohit Sharma, but suddenly Virat Kohli left the T20 captaincy and forced the board to make the new captain.
After this, on 8 December, the BCCI removed Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy even though he did not want to leave the captaincy. Meaning the BCCI has fulfilled the condition of Rohit Sharma which he had placed in front of the selectors before becoming the T20 captain.
Rohit Sharma said- Both captaincy is needed in T20, ODI!
According to the Cricbuzz report, when there was a meeting to remove Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy, Rohit Sharma did not know about it. Rohit Sharma was doing batting practice in Mumbai with KL Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant. However, Rohit Sharma had already expressed his desire for ODI captaincy in front of the selectors.
Rohit Sharma’s record as a captain is unmatched. Rohit has won the IPL 5 times and in the absence of Virat Kohli, he has always handled the team. In the year 2018, the Asia Cup was also won by Team India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. It was only after winning the Asia Cup that Rohit Sharma expressed his desire to become the captain. After the victory, Rohit Sharma said that he is ready to become the captain of the T20 and ODI team. Whenever he gets a chance, he will fulfill this responsibility. Now after 3 years, Rohit Sharma has become the captain of the ODI, T20 team and the expectations from him are also very high. Next year is the T20 World Cup in Australia and the ODI World Cup in 2023. By the way, Rohit Sharma’s Test will start from the ODI series against South Africa.
