Now Kohli has told that he had talked to RCB teammate and good friend AB de Villiers about leaving the captaincy of RCB. He told that he wanted a peaceful atmosphere and that is why he had decided to step away from the captaincy of RCB.
In a conversation with Star Sports, Virat Kohli said, I spoke to AB in 2019 about this decision. In IPL, I always wanted to be in a peaceful environment. We talked about it and then I thought we would give it one more year. Then there was a change in management and things were very good in 2020. I felt very relaxed at that time. Under the captaincy of Kohli, RCB reached the playoffs in IPL 2020. However, it could not go further than this. At the same time, the team has shown a good game in IPL 2021 as well. This year, RCB has entered the playoffs by staying at number three in the group stage.
In this way, RCB has reached the playoffs for the second consecutive year. The team is hoping that this time their IPL winning drought will end. The team of RCB has gone to the final three times but has not been able to win the title.
De Villiers praises Kohli
AB de Villiers praised Kohli’s captaincy. He said, ‘Virat Kohli is an amazing captain. It is an honor to play under him. I have been his fan because in the last few years he has faced a lot of pressure from the Indian team and IPL. I think he can have some fun in this environment. It can be understood in this way that while away from Indian cricket, having some fun in T20 cricket with friends in IPL and then playing with full pressure for India in all formats.
