In the Indian premier league, the number of domestic players is as much as that of foreign players. Many foreign players are important members of their team in IPL. One such name is England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes. Ben Stokes is currently in Rajasthan Royals and is the main link of his team. This player has the power to reverse the match with both bat and ball. Stokes’ performance in the final of the ODI World Cup that England won in 2019 is recorded in history. After the World Cup, Stokes demonstrated his talent in the Test series played against Australia. Since then, it is believed that this player can withdraw a match from any position on his own.
The New Zealand-born cricketer has played four IPLs so far. Stokes made his IPL debut for the first time in 2017. Stokes was then bought by Rising Pune Supergents for a hefty sum of 14.5 crores. Stokes was the most expensive foreign player of the IPL that season. His record was later broken by Pat Cummins of Australia. So far in the IPL, Stokes has played 42 matches and scored 920 runs with two centuries, two fifties. In bowling, Stokes has taken a total of 28 wickets in four IPL names.
Shine for pune
Stokes left his mark in his very first IPL. Chennai Super Kings was banned and hence Pune came as a new team. The team could not win the title but Stokes managed to score 316 runs in 12 matches. In his very first season, Stokes had scored a brilliant century. In the following season, Stokes joined the Rajasthan Royals. Stokes was not very successful playing with Rajasthan in 2018. He scored 196 runs in 13 matches. Talking about contributing with the ball, Stokes took 12 wickets in his name in 2017 and eight wickets in 2018.
Hero made in new responsibility
In 2019, Stokes played just nine matches for Rajasthan as he left to join the England team to prepare for the World Cup. In these nine matches, Stokes scored 123 runs with his best score being 46. In bowling, Stokes took six wickets in his name. In 2020 Stokes joined the team after half a season. This season, the team gave him the new responsibility of the opener, which he played well and also scored a brilliant century against Mumbai Indians. In 2020, Stokes played eight matches and scored 285 runs at an average of 40.71. In this season, Rajasthan will be expecting a good performance from Stokes.
