Last year the Ranji Trophy season had to be canceled due to coronavirus infection, which was the first time in the tournament’s 85-year history.
The BCCI had formed a committee last year to prepare the compensation formula, whose suggestion has been implemented.
The Indian domestic cricket season is currently underway. Tournaments like Women’s Senior ODI Tournament, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy have been played and now in a few days the country’s most prominent tournament Ranji Trophy is going to start. The previous season of the tournament could not be played due to Coronavirus, but now the domestic players will get a chance to show their strength by getting on the field again. Another good news has come with the organization of the tournament for the players. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has paid the domestic players as compensation for the last season canceled due to Corona.
The BCCI had announced last year that the board would compensate the loss to the players due to the cancellation of the tournament. For this, a committee was constituted by the BCCI under the chairmanship of former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin, which suggested the payment formula. The board has now paid the players by implementing this formula. Last year, for the first time in the 85-year history of the Ranji Trophy, the tournament had to be called off. However, this year also the cases of corona infection have started increasing. However, due to almost all the players having both doses of the vaccine, this time it is starting from January 13.
Players to pay 50 percent of match fees
Cricket website espn-cricinfo According to the report, the BCCI, while compensating for the previous season, has paid the players their previous season’s salary before the new season starts. According to the report, the board has given 50 percent of the regular salary to the players on the basis of the salary of 2019-20 season.
something like this will pay
The board has recently increased it by changing the salary of domestic players, but it will be applicable from the new season. Therefore, the players have been paid at the rates of the previous season. In terms of Ranji Trophy, till last season, every player used to get 35 thousand rupees per day as fees for playing matches. In this sense, if a player played 8 matches in the 2019-20 season, he would get Rs 11.20 lakh instead. Applying the compensation formula on the basis of this salary, Rs 5.10 lakh has been paid to that player for the canceled season.
