You have also seen explosive innings in the world of cricket, but have you seen any batsman wreaking havoc more than this?

In the Singer Cup final, Sanath Jayasuriya had scored 76 runs from 28 balls on this day.

In the cricket world, you must have seen many explosive innings, but today you have hardly seen or heard the batting of the batsman whose innings we are going to tell about. The year was 1996 and the match was the final match of the Singer’s Cup. The teams that fought in this title war were Pakistan and Sri Lanka (Pakistan vs Sri Lanka). In 1996, this match was played on today’s day i.e. 7th April. Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya had created a rage in this match with his bat which was never seen again, but his price was so bad that even after scoring a half-century in just 17 balls, he gave his team a slight Failed to reach the goal Come, let’s know the whole story.

The match was played in Singapore. Batting first, Pakistan’s team scored 215 runs. Ejaz Ahmed scored the most 51 runs for the team. At the same time Rameez Raja contributed 37 runs. Chaminda Vaas and Muttiah Muralitharan took two wickets each for Sri Lanka. Now the massacre of Sanat Jayasuriya starts from here. Jayasuriya chased down the target of 216 runs as soon as he landed on the ground. He hit a half-century off just 17 balls. The interesting thing in all of this is that when his fellow opener batsman Romesh Kaluvitarna had run 70 runs on the scoreboard by the time he opened the account without opening. This was the storm of Jayasuriya’s batting. Jayasuriya continued to rain fours and sixes, extending the stormy innings after the half-century. He was dismissed for 76 runs off 28 balls.

Jayasuriya’s storm stopped here, there was magic of Pakistani bowlers

Sanat Jayasuriya hit eight fours and five sixes in this tremendous innings. He scored these runs at a striking strike rate of 271. But still Pakistan got this match to their name with a good margin of 43 runs. When Jayasuriya was dismissed for the team’s score of 96, it was the second wicket of the Sri Lankan team. In such a situation, there were about 120 runs to be scored and the victory was not so difficult. But here the storm of Jayasuriya came to a halt, there was havoc of Pakistani bowlers. Saqlain Mushtaq and Ata ur Rehman shared three wickets each, while Waqar Younis and Aaqib Javed gave two batsmen the way to the pavilion and reduced the Sri Lankan innings to 172 runs.

Jayasuriya’s game in international matches and IPL

Sri Lankan coach Sanath Jayasuriya played 110 Test matches for the country, scoring 6973 runs at an average of 40.07. His bat yielded 14 centuries and 31 half-centuries in the test. His highest score in this was 340 runs. He also took 98 wickets in the test. At the same time, he has 323 wickets in 445 ODIs, while in batting, he scored 13430 runs at an average of 32.36 and a strike rate of 91.20. These include 28 centuries and 68 half-centuries. His highest score in ODIs is 189 runs.

Jayasuriya has also participated in the Indian Premier League. He participated in the first three seasons of the IPL. Jayasuriya played 30 matches for Mumbai Indians from 2008 to 2010. In this, he scored 772 runs at an average of 27.57 and a strike rate of 145.11. This includes a century of 114 not out. Four fifties are also his name in the IPL.
