Corona’s impact on badminton tournament
In the last few days, the Badminton Association of India has taken a big decision in view of the increasing cases of Corona. In view of the safety of the players and the organizers (BAI), it has postponed all its domestic events to be held across the country. BAI general secretary Ajay Kumnar Singhania confirmed this in a statement released on Monday. Apart from this, the BWF has also canceled some tournaments for the coming time.
The statement said that in view of the increasing cases of corona across India, BAI is forced to take a decision to postpone all domestic tournaments keeping in mind the safety of the players. In the coming times in India, junior and senior level competitions were to be held. Not only domestic but also BWF has canceled the upcoming tournaments.
The tournament was to be held in Hyderabad and Bengaluru
According to Singhania, more than 2000 applications have been received for domestic events. Domestic tournaments were scheduled to be held in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, but due to rising cases of Corona in all these places, the Sangh has decided to ban all-India ranking events for the time being by talking to all state associations and stakeholders. Further information will be released regarding their event.
