Pat Cummins said in his statement,
India is a country that they love a lot from last few years and people here meet very warmly and are also very kind. I feel very sad to know that at this time they are going through agony. There is a lot of talk about whether this is the right time to continue the IPL when the transition of Kovid-19 is very high. I have been told that the Government of India is of the opinion that when people are in lockdown and the country is going through a difficult time, they get a few hours of enjoyment and relief through the IPL. As players, we have such a platform through which we reach millions and can help them. Keeping this in mind, I have donated to the PM Cares Fund. This money will be spent for supplying oxygen to hospitals in India.
I also appeal to my fellow IPL players and the rest of the world to also help. I am starting with 50 thousand dollars. It is easy to feel helpless at the moment. I thought so too. But I hope that by making public appeals in this way, we can turn our feelings into action which will bring light in people’s lives. I know that there will be nothing more than my donation but I hope that it will affect someone’s life.
