The ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in India later this year, but due to the condition of the coronavirus, it is under threat.
Due to Corona, the crisis over India’s hosting has increased.
Due to coronavirus, the IPL 2021 (IPL 2021) season in India had to be stopped. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed the tournament indefinitely in the middle of the season, but it seems to have the most impact on the ICC T20 World Cup. The ICC may be talking about taking a decision on this in June, but now players have also started expressing their opinion about it. Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has said on this issue that if the conditions in India do not go well, then the tournament should be organized elsewhere. Cummins was part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL and is currently in the Maldives with his Australian teammates.
There were cases of corona infection in the safe bio-bubble created for IPL 2021 by BCCI. Due to this, there was panic among the players. At the same time, the havoc of the second wave of Corona in India also troubled foreign players who were involved in the tournament. Pat Cummins was also among such players, who donated 50 thousand dollars to help India.
The decision to organize in India should be based on the circumstances
Even though the IPL has been postponed, the eyes are now on the World Cup. India has to host the tournament in October-November this year. However, now it depends on what the situation of Corona is in the country in the coming days. The Australian fast bowler has made it clear that the decision should be taken only after looking at the situation. Speaking to Australian newspaper The Age, Cummins said,
“If it puts a lot on Indian resources or it is not safe to organize it there, then I do not think it would be right to organize it there. This is the first question that needs to be answered. It is probably too early to say anything. Now it is six months. It should be a priority for cricket officials to talk to the Indian government to see what is best for the Indian people. ”
What did Cummins say about the IPL event?
Cummins said on the question of conducting IPL in India this time that the organizers would have decided to host in India only after better advice. He said, “Last year the IPL in the UAE was fantastic but millions of people believed that it should be played in India this time. so what you do. You have to see both sides. He organized the tournament after taking the best possible advice. “
Big challenge in front of BCCI
There is a growing concern in front of the Indian cricket board about both the tournaments. The board is looking for a better window to complete the IPL. At present, no success has been achieved in this direction. Some county clubs in England and Sri Lanka have proposed to organize the tournament. At the same time, the board also has a problem to solve this issue regarding the World Cup.
