Ashes 2021-22: England lose 275 runs in Adelaide Test, Australia lead 2-0 in Test series.
Ashes 2021-22: Joe Root’s patience ties broken after defeat
After the crushing defeat in Brisbane, England were expecting a good comeback in Adelaide but it did not happen. The Australian team trampled England by 275 runs in Adelaide without bowlers like Hazlewood and captain Pat Cummins. Australia gave a huge target of 486 runs and England’s team was bundled out for just 192 runs. The visiting team is now 2-0 behind in the series. Captain Joe Root looked very angry with England’s very poor performance in Adelaide. After the match, Joe Root told his team the truth. Joe Root has even said that this team is not learning and it is repeating the mistakes of four years old.
After the crushing defeat in Adelaide, Joe Root first started the class of bowlers. Joe Root said, ‘Our bowlers did not bowl at the right length. We need to throw the ball up. As soon as we changed the length in the second innings, it was difficult for the Australian batsmen. This is very disappointing because we keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again. The mistakes we made four years ago are still doing it. We could have bowled well.
Joe Root said – Batsmen have to be greedy
England captain Joe Root also advised the batsmen to take an aggressive approach. Root said, ‘In the first 20 minutes we have to play carefully but after that we have to be greedy for runs. We also have to release the ball. We can do this. Today the batsmen’s stand was excellent and we need more of this.
England’s poor performance in the Ashes series
Talking about the first two Test matches, the England team looks completely scattered. Neither the batsmen are running nor the bowlers are able to take wickets. England’s batting order looks very weak. The opening pair is a cause of great concern for England. Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed have disappointed in the first two Tests and even Ben Stokes is not getting runs with the bat. Talking about bowling, England could not even trust its main spinner Jack Leach. Jack Leach was denied a chance in Adelaide after being badly beaten in the first Test. Joe Root himself was seen bowling spin but after the injury, fast bowler Olly Robinson had to bowl spin on the fourth day. Seeing such condition of England, speculations are being made that Joe Root’s team will hardly be able to win any match in the Ashes series.
