The BCCI organized the IPL in UAE in a grand manner only six months ago. At that time there was not a single case of Corona after the start of the tournament. In such a situation, when BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that IPL 2021 will be in India, then people believed that this time also the tournament will be done with success. But this could not happen. According to the report of the Times of India, there was a big difference in the conduct of IPL 2020 and IPL 2021. Last year, where the tournament was organized in a systematic way, this time a lot of franchisees were left.
Hotel booking disturbances
It is written in the report that this time hotels were booked in a random manner. The hotel was also quite far from the stadium. One team hotel was inside the mall. Also, during the hotel booking, the bio bubble was not given much attention. Also, the ground staff were not part of the bio bubble. Due to this, many people of the ground staff came positive in the last one month. IPL 2021 was organized in different cities. In such a situation, after some matches, the players had to go from one city to another. This journey took place through flights. Due to this, the players had to go through the flight terminal. This process increases the risk of infection of the corona.
This time, the BCCI itself had taken up the task of managing the bio bubble. Apart from the hospital and testing lab, all other work was with the BCCI. The GPS device that was given to keep track of the players’ movement is also known to be defective. On behalf of many teams it was said that there was a disturbance in the GPS device. Some teams had hired cooks to cook their meals but some teams were dependent on the hotel staff.

Now if compared to IPL 2020, then it is known that all the matches were held in three cities last year. This time matches were to be held in six cities. Last time all the teams stayed in the same hotel till the end of the tournament, this time due to moving from one city to another, the hotel had to be changed. Then in IPL 2020, teams completed the journey from hotel to stadium with buses. As if a team was in Dubai, it also went by bus to Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. The staff of the bus was also a part of the bubble. But this time it was not so. The players were going from the hotel to the stadium by bus but the journey from one city to another was completed by flight. In this case, the greater the movement, the greater the risk of corona.
