The Agriculture Minister said that efforts should be made that along with the creation of a state-of-the-art air terminal, the activities of the Potato Research Center should also go on smoothly.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar taking stock of Potato Research Center Gwalior
In connection with the work of expansion of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Airport, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar reached Potato Research Center on Saturday and understood the situation. While taking stock of the land of Potato Research Center, he said that efforts should be such that there is no obstacle in the expansion of the air terminal. Along with this, the activities of potato research should also go on smoothly. On this occasion, Tomar directed all the concerned officers to submit a coordinated report within a week, so that the land could be transferred to the Airport Authority for the expansion of the air terminal. The expansion of the air terminal is proposed on the land of Potato Research Center itself.
During the visit of Union Minister Tomar, DDG Horticulture (ICAR) AK Singh and Director, CPRI Shimla Manoj Kumar along with senior officers of Agricultural Research Council and Airport Authority, Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh, Chairman of Central Potato Research Center Gwalior Shiv Pratap Singh and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Kishore Kanyal and other concerned officers were also present at the Potato Research Center.
Authority wants land for potato research center
District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Kishore Kanyal said that 110 acres of Potato Research Center land has been sought by the Airport Authority for the expansion of the air terminal. Out of this, 10 acres of land will be used for the airport route. After taking stock of the land of the center, Union Minister Tomar directed that the officials of Airport Authority, Indian Council of Agricultural Research and District Administration should finalize the roadmap for the expansion of the air terminal by coordinating with each other.
He said that Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh should fulfill the responsibility of nodal officer to bring this work on the ground at the earliest. He said that in order to speed up the work of the air terminal, a meeting should be held in Delhi also with the concerned officials regarding the transfer of land of Potato Research Center.
Both the airport and the research center are necessary
Union Minister Tomar said that both state-of-the-art airport and Central Potato Research Center are necessary for the progress of Gwalior. With the increase in air connectivity, along with increasing the facility of air travel in Gwalior-Chambal zone, industrial investment will be encouraged. At the same time, Potato Research Center is also playing an important role in their prosperity by providing improved seeds of potatoes to the farmers of the country including Gwalior-Chambal region. Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh gave detailed information about the land to be given for the air terminal. Along with this, the officials of the Airport Authority told about the outline of the proposed air terminal.
