Today at 10:00 am, the BSE Sensex was trading at 51,322.28, down 0.07 per cent. HDFC, Hindustan Unilever Ltd and HDFC Bank were the top gainers, while Tata Steel, Power Grid Corporation of India and IndusInd Bank were market draggers in the opening session. Among the broader markets, BSE Midcap was trading 1.22 per cent lower at 21,035.94 while the Smallcap index was also trading 1.74% lower at 23,714.37 levels.
The Nifty 50 index was trading 0.17 per cent lower at 15,267.85 points. On the Nifty 50 index, stocks that traded in the green were HDFC, Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Eicher Motors. ONGC, Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel Ltd were among the top losers there.
All sectoral indices fell in this morning’s trade, with BSE Metals being the most affected sector. It fell over 4 per cent, led by Vedanta Ltd, National Aluminum Company Ltd and Jindal Steel falling over 5 per cent.
