All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Has alleged that Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in ward number 63 of Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu (DMK) The cadre on Saturday bribed over 300 voters by distributing cash, anklets and pulao. AIADMK candidate Latha Thirumugham and BJP candidate Kavita Rajan said DMK workers from Coimbatore and Karur had rented a wedding hall near Olympus from where they had bribed voters. The BJP and AIADMK later locked the wedding hall and informed the police. He also released a video in which people can purportedly be seen taking gifts in the marriage hall.
This wedding hall was not more than 100 meters from a polling station at Coimbatore Corporation Primary School in Ramanathapuram. BJP and AIADMK cadres alerted their party at the polling booth, after which people from both the parties reached the spot and pulled down the shutter of the hall, so that the DMK cadre could be confined to the marriage hall. Police later vacated the area and beefed up security.
The candidates said that the policemen who reached there pulled the shutters and let the people and people of DMK go out. The candidates alleged that the police had worked in favor of the ruling party. Ms Rajan said her party cadre had videographed the incident at the wedding hall and would present it before the police commissioner while filing the complaint.

DMK candidate M. Shanti refuted the allegation saying that only booth slips were distributed to party workers. He said that he has the video as evidence to support his claim. Corporation commissioner and returning officer Raja Gopal Sunkara said that the incident took place in Ramanathapuram in the morning. The flying squad of the corporation had reached the spot. Inquiries are on and a clear picture will come in front of everyone at the end of the investigation.
One AIADMK person also arrested
A tense moment was witnessed in Karur when Thanthonimalai police on Saturday arrested an AIADMK functionary for distributing cell phones to voters in Ward 38 of Karur City Municipal Corporation. After questioning, the police arrested Shankar (21) and confiscated 11 mobile phones. Later he inspected the house of another party worker and seized 26 more phones from there.
