The Election Commission has directed the Chief Secretaries of all the states to provide adequate security to the star campaigners during the elections. The Election Commission had written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officers of the states on February 5. In this letter, the Election Commission said that it has come to their notice that the assembly elections (Vidhansabha) star campaigners have faced security issues.
According to media reports, the Election Commission said that star campaigners are an integral part of the election process. Security of star campaigners is very important for free and fair elections. After the attack on Owaisi, the Election Commission has taken cognizance of such a matter. This is the reason why the Election Commission has decided to provide adequate security to the star campaigners of political parties in the states.
Star campaigners get adequate protection
No specific incident has been mentioned in the letter written by the Election Commission, but it is believed that the Election Commission has given such instructions after the attack on Owaisi. This decision of the Election Commission is being linked to the attack on Owaisi. Let us inform that on Thursday, there was firing on Owaisi’s car near Hapar toll plaza. He narrowly survived in this incident.
