Cabinet secretarySimon Case has intervened in a row over claims of a smear marketing campaign in opposition to Tory management favorite Liz Truss.

Asked immediately by the Independent to remark, Mr Case declined to reply.
A spokesperson for Ms Truss instructed the Independent: “To suggest or report that complaints have been made about the foreign secretary is untrue and false.”
Privately, her group are livid at his intervention.
The cupboard secretary’s assertion comes after mounting Tory concern on the acrimonious private battle between Ms Truss and Mr Sunak.
Mr Sunak has branded her financial insurance policies as “socialist” and mocked her for having beforehand been a Lib Dem and a “Remainer”.
