Raj, Uddhav and Harshvardhan Sapkal.
A joint victory rally of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Gut) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) was held in Mumbai on Saturday after withdrawing the decisions taken by the government on Trishag formula. In this rally, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray appeared together for the first time on the stage, which has created a new stir in the politics of the state. After the rally, the discussion has intensified in the political corridors regarding the possible alliance of both parties.
The first official response of the Congress has come to light on this whole incident, State Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal gave a big statement on the issue and said that the Congress will move forward with the parties that accept its values.
Sapkal said, in 2019, Congress and NCP fought together. The Shiv Sena then formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) with us while distance from the BJP. Our aim was to keep the BJP away from power and under this, India alliance was also formed.
He clarified that local Congress committees have been given freedom to alliance with equal ideology parties for local body elections like Municipal Corporation and Zilla Parishad. Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena may also be involved in such parties.
Congress's response to Thackeray-Thakre rally
Reacting to the Vijay rally, Sapkal said, it was a program related to a cultural and Marathi identity, in which the two leaders united. When more explanations on this will come out in future, then the Congress will assess the situation and take a decision.
He further said that the situation is not clear even about the dates of the election. He said, when elections will be held, it is not decided. Will they be in February, or not in October – it has become a joke.
Target BJP
Attacking the BJP, the Congress state president said, “The main agenda of the BJP is to distract the attention of the people.” Sometimes in the name of religion, sometimes in the name of language, and now in the name of electoral processes.
Meanwhile, some leaders of the Mahayuti coalition have expressed apprehension that this close to Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray may be the foundation of a possible third front. According to him, if the Thackeray brothers come together, then Maha Vikas may be split in Aghadi (MVA), which can benefit the BJP.
Political experts believe that if the coalition of MNS and Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) formally takes a formal form, it will not only affect Mumbai and Marathi vote banks, but can also affect the balance of power in local civic elections.
