While 14 candidates (15 per cent) have declared serious criminal cases against themselves. Murder and rape cases registered against some candidates

Two of the 22 constituencies are ‘red alert’ constituencies, which means three or more contesting candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves. The report states that out of 92 candidates, 52 (57 per cent) are crorepatis. The average assets of each candidate contesting in the second phase of elections is Rs 2.61 crore. Significantly, the assembly elections in Manipur are proposed on February 27 and March 3. All the parties are busy in full swing for the upcoming elections. The 2017 assembly elections in the state were held in a single phase. In these elections, Congress got 28 seats, BJP 21, NPF 4, NPP 4, LJP 1, Trinamool 1 and Independent 1 seat.
