Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President K Sudhakaran said on Sunday that no one else in the party, including Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, has the right to deny its directions. At the same time, Sudhakaran warned Tharoor that if he did not live within the ambit of the decisions of the Congress, he would be expelled from the party.
During the press conference in Kannur, Sudhakaran said, “Shashi Tharoor is only one person in the party. One is Shashi Tharoor, not Congress. If he stays within the bounds of the party’s decisions, he will remain part of the party and if he rejects it, he will be thrown out.”
Tharoor has been facing flak from state unit leaders after party MPs refused to sign a letter to the Center against the ‘semi-high speed rail corridor’ in Kerala and openly praising Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently. are. Sudhakaran said that everyone has the right to form his own opinion, “but whether it is Shashi Tharoor or K Sudhakaran, no one has the right to deny the decisions of the party.”
Sudhakaran said a written explanation has been sought from Tharoor and a further decision would be taken after receiving it. “No one in the party has been given such authority, not even an MP,” he said.
Need to keep political differences aside on some issues: Tharoor
Responding to criticism from his party colleagues, Tharoor had tweeted that it is necessary to set aside political differences on some issues. He also said that he would express his opinion after studying the Silver Line project.
