Announcing the date of the by-election, the Election Commission said that by-elections for Brajrajnagar (Odisha), Thrikkakara (Kerala) and Champawat (Uttarakhand) assembly constituencies will be held on May 31. With this, the code of conduct has come into force in Champawat district.

After the BJP leadership’s decision to make Dhami the chief minister, it was clear that he would soon contest a by-election from a seat. Kailash Gahatodi, who was elected MLA from Champawat assembly seat, resigned from the assembly membership on April 21, vacating the seat for Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. After this, declaring Champawat seat vacant, its information was sent to the Election Commission through the office of the Chief Electoral Officer. Now the Election Commission of India has declared the election schedule.

Nomination on 12th May and withdrawal on 17th May

Nomination for the election will be done by May 11. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on May 12 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations has been kept on May 17. After this, polling will be held on May 31. Then the results will be declared on June 3. The Congress has not yet opened its cards about whom Congress will field in front of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on a BJP ticket.

Workers started work on weak booths

In the election season of Champawat, all the ministers and party officials will also take the front. The party will now form teams for different tasks.
