BJP MLA Amit Satam has written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray saying that instead of imposing Marathi nameplate on the shop, Shiv Sena should run a campaign to save Marathi schools.
Concerned over the declining number of Marathi schools in BMC, BJP MLA Amit Satam has written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, drawing his attention to the issue. He said that instead of imposing Marathi nameplate on the shop, Shiv Sena should run a campaign to save Marathi schools. On the occasion of the 51st foundation day of Shiv Sena, Satam congratulated Uddhav Thackeray and reminded that the party was started by late supremo Balasaheb Thackeray to bring justice to the Marathi people. However, he said, the Marathi language has been neglected since the death of Thackeray Sr. He said that it is really sad that BMC’s Marathi schools are shutting down while Shiv Sena is ruling the civic body. Don’t you care about Marathi schools? I had written a letter in this regard last year as well, but nothing happened.
Giving detailed figures about BMC’s Marathi schools, the BJP leader said that in 2012-13, there were 385 Marathi schools in Mumbai with 81,126 students. The numbers have come down drastically in the last 10 years and only 272 schools with 34,014 students are left in 2021-22. Satam said that 110 Marathi schools were closed during the last 10 years, which is a huge figure. As per my knowledge 47,202 students have been forced to leave the school. On one hand you cry all the time for Marathi pride and enjoy power. However, in reality there is a 50 per cent reduction in Marathi schools and students. While the BJP MLA expressed hope, I think the CM will take serious cognizance of the issue of reducing Marathi schools.
BMC has also been accused of scam in the tender process of tunnel laundry
Earlier, Amit Satam had accused BMC of scam in the tender process of tunnel laundry. Along with this, Satam had also expressed the apprehension of getting bribe of BMC officials in this process. Satam had said that this scam could be about 160 crores. Not only this, Satam said that he has strong evidence of the scam and if the investigating agency does not bring it to the fore, then he will open the pole with the evidence at the right time.
