Former TV journalist Rabi Lamichhane’s new party Rashtriya Swatantra Party in Nepal general elections I am getting more seats than expected. Rashtriya Swatantra Party seems to be getting third place in the elections after big political parties like Nepali Congress and CPN-UML. National Swatantra Party Leading on seven seats. About 61 percent of Nepal’s 17.9 million voters had cast their votes at more than 22,000 polling stations till 5 p.m. on Sunday, down from 78 percent in 2017 and 77 percent in 2013.
The counting of votes began on Monday after the elections for the House of Representatives and seven provincial assemblies were held on Sunday. According to the Election Commission, about 61 percent polling was recorded in Nepal. Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been formed by former television personality Rabi Lamichhane (48). RSP is currently leading in three seats in Kathmandu and one seat in Lalitpur district.

NC leading in 32 seats
The ruling Nepali Congress (NC), which has won one constituency so far, is leading in 32 constituencies, while the CPN-UML led by former prime minister KP Sharma Oli is leading in 17 constituencies. According to Election Commission sources, CPN-UML’s Prem Bahadur Maharajan has won from Lalitpur-2 constituency. Prem Bahadur Maharajan secured 19,834 votes while his nearest rival Sudin Shakya of Hamro Nepal Party got 10,440 votes.
RSP ahead in seven constituencies
Earlier, Nepali Congress had won its first seat from Mustang constituency. RSP is leading in seven constituencies, while Rashtriya Prajatantra Party has lead in five constituencies and CPN-Maoist Center in four constituencies respectively. In reference to RSP’s election symbol bell, a social media post said, ‘The bell is ringing against the big parties. Observers said the RSP’s impressive performance was a warning to larger parties like the NC and the CPN-UML.
