Election Commission to Government: The Election Commission has asked the government to link the Aadhar card with the voter ID. Also, opinion and exit polls should be banned.
Many big changes related to elections in the country can happen soon. For this, the Election Commission (Election Commission) has requested the Govt. Chief Election Commissioner (Chief Election Commissioner) Rajiv Kumar has asked the Law Ministry to issue a notification to link Aadhar Card with Voter ID. So that eligible people can be given four dates to register themselves as voters. Along with this, the commission has asked to review the proposals, which have asked to ban opinion polls and exit polls and limit the number of seats from which a candidate can contest. The commission has said that such a rule should be prescribed, under which a candidate is allowed to contest the election on only one seat.
According to the Indian Express report, an official of the Election Commission on the condition of anonymity said, “The Election Commission has sent six major proposals to the Law Ministry. We have requested the government to notify the rules for linking Aadhaar with Voter ID and four cutoff dates for those eligible to register themselves as voters. Earlier in December 2021, the Rajya Sabha passed the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021. The biggest change in this bill was that Aadhaar should be linked with voter ID. Despite opposition from the opposition, this amended bill has been passed in both the houses of Parliament.
