Mirabai Chanu to get gold medal in Tokyo Olympics! This is the whole truth related to the results of the dope test

The rumors were fueled by the news of a dope test of a Chinese player who won the gold medal in the 49 kg event at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Mirabai Chanu is the first Indian weightlifter to win a silver medal in the Olympics.

The day of 26 July was full of rumors of Mirabai Chanu’s silver medal being converted into gold medal. The rumors were fueled by the news of a dope test of a Chinese player who won the gold medal in the 49 kg event at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. But these speculations and rumors were started without any basis. By evening, Rajeev Mehta, general secretary of the Indian Olympic Association, also made it clear that he had no idea about the dope test. He did not get any information about this from any official in Tokyo. Rajeev Mehta himself is presently present in Tokyo. In such a situation, there is no truth in the news being spread on social media that Chanu’s silver medal will be converted into gold. Neither any sports official of India nor any statement has come from the International Olympic Committee regarding this.

In this regard, senior sports journalist KP Mohan has opened the whole layers of the matter through Twitter. Along with this, he has also told the details related to the dope test. He says that after an event, any player can have a dope test within the next 48 hours. But it does not have a connection with his latest event. This process ends as soon as the doping control process related to the weight category is completed. He wrote that usually the Olympic Committee tests all the medal winners and the rest of the people. This process is completed within a few hours of the end of the event. If any sample remains, then the player or players have to stay in the doping center station.

Even if the dope test came positive, the medal was not affected.

According to KP Mohan, ‘If a player’s urine sample is not immediately available, then there is also an arrangement for him to stay overnight. Earlier, the International Olympic Committee directly looked after this work. But now the International Testing Agency has this responsibility. However, she does this work only on the responsibility of the IOC. Earlier, when someone came positive, IOC used to invalidate his result and take his accreditation. But now these matters go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport ie CAS Panel.

He further said, ‘Even if the result of a player is now positive, then it will not be related to the competition. His time is gone. Assuming the Chinese athlete is present there and even if he is tested, it will be an out-of-competition test. This means that even if the Chinese player comes positive, it has nothing to do with his medal case.
