Kolkata Police arrested 1 smuggler with gold biscuits from Park Street area. Police have seized 12 gold biscuits from a smuggler named Hafizul Sheikh. Sources say that the STF of Kolkata Police has arrested Hafizul this morning. The market value of the gold biscuits seized from him is Rs 68 lakh. The biscuits were allegedly being smuggled in a bag.

According to the information received by the police from intelligence sources, Hafizul looked like an office passenger. He had a bag. The police took him into custody from Park Street on the basis of suspicion. After that he was interrogated. Hafizul got a little nervous due to the police questioning. Gold biscuits were recovered from the bag.

The gold smuggler was also arrested a few days ago

Incidentally, the BSF had got success on the Indo-Bangladesh border just a few days ago. A gold biscuit smuggler named Gopal Sarkar was arrested on the border. Was carrying 11 gold biscuits by bicycle. The weight of gold biscuits was 1 kg 600 grams. On that day, BSF battalion number 153 personnel were conducting a search operation at Uttarpara on the Indo-Bangladesh Ghojadanga border in Basirhat. Gopal Sarkar, 48, was at that time hanging a bag on the handle of his bicycle. The soldiers blocked his way and there was doubt in the interrogation. Gold biscuits were recovered from his bag. 11 gold biscuits, a cycle and Indian Rupees 1,400 were recovered from Gopal. According to interrogation, Gopal’s house is in the nearby village of Panitar. Border Security Force personnel are probing whether there is any link between it and international gold smuggling.

BSF had arrested the smuggler on the border

Jahar Singh, commanding officer of battalion number 153, said, ‘They have entered the country from other countries through Bangladesh. It is being probed whether there is any link between the local touts.” The recovered gold biscuits, cycle and cash have been handed over to Ghojadanga customs office. Along with this, the accused gold smuggler has been handed over to Basirhat police. BSF is investigating where so many gold biscuits came from. Meanwhile, the gold biscuit smuggler has been arrested again in Kolkata itself. Investigators are trying to find out who this person is involved in.
