It is necessary to do e-nomination in PF account. If this work is not done then PF passbook will not open and we will not be able to see PF balance. EPFO has given 12 easy steps by which e-nomination can be done.

It is very important to do e-nomination in your EPF account. If you do not do this, then you will not be able to open the passbook of PF account. Due to not opening the pass, you will also not be able to see the PF account balance. Till now no such rule was mandatory. But now e-nomination in the EPF account has become necessary to see the record of PF linked deposits and withdrawals.
Till now you used to easily see the details of PF balance and passbook by visiting the website of Employees Provident Fund Organization. For this, you had to enter Universal Account Number or UAN by going to EPF Passbook and Claim Status option. Your PF passbook would open as soon as you entered the password just below it. After login, used to see PF balance. But now the e-nomination has not been done, then the passbook will not open. In the upper part of the page, a message will appear in which it will be written that e-nomination is mandatory to view the passbook.
What information has to be given in e-nomination
To file e-nomination in the EPF account, one has to first give the name of the nominee (there can be more than one nominee). His address is needed and what is the relation with the PF member, that also has to be told. The date of birth of the nominee has to be mentioned. Full information has to be given about what percentage of the money deposited in the PF account is to be given to the share nominee. If the nominee is a minor, then it is necessary to give the name and address of his guardian. Signature or thumb impression of the nominee is required.
How to file e-nomination online
- First of all login with UAN and password on EPF member portal
- Go to Manage section and click on e-nomination option
- Go to Profile and enter permanent address and current address and click on save
- Select whether you are family or not
- Fill the details of family member’s Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, gender, relation, address, guardian (minor nominee) and click on save family details. If you want to create more than one nominee then select Add Row
- Select the nominee from the list and enter the total number of shares to be given. After that click on save epf nomination
- Nomination details will be saved. To add a nominee in the pension scheme, go to the EPS section
- E-sign the nominee you have made. For this, select e-nomination in the manage section
- Now enter the Virtual ID of Aadhaar and click on verify
- Give your consent for e-KYC of Aadhaar
- Enter Aadhaar Number or Aadhaar Virtual ID and click on Get OTP. An OTP will be received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar
- Enter OTP to complete the nomination in EPFO. No need to provide physical documents after digitally nomination in EPF and EPS
