In this era of social media, the market of rumors is spreading fast and people are also falling prey to it many times. Every day new rumors are spread on social media platforms, in which claims of any service or any scheme of government and all manner of claims are made. One such claim is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In which it has been said that exemption on toll tax will be given to journalists at all toll plazas of India, for which ID card has to be shown. Has the government issued such information? This claim has been investigated by the PIB Fact Check Team and the Ministry of Transport has put the information on it.
In fact, tolls on all the national highways of the country became completely cashless from midnight of 15 February. The government had made FASTAG mandatory for all trains from January 1, 2021.
What is the truth of the claim
Regarding the claim of exemption of toll tax on journalists at all toll plazas of the country, PIB Fact Check tweeted that in a WhatsApp message it is being claimed that journalists will get exemption on toll tax on all toll plazas in India, Required to show ID card. In fact check, PIB further said that this claim is fake. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has not given any such order.

Can anyone cross the toll without fastag
Zero balance fastags have been issued by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to cross the toll without the fastag. Few people get this facility. President of India, Vice President, Prime Minister, Governor of State, Chief Justice of India, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Cabinet Minister, Chief Minister, Chief Justice of High Court, Secretary to Government of India, Army Commander of Chief of Army Staff and equivalent in other services and Chief Adivasis of the state government get fast balance. Fastag is mandatory for the rest of the people.
