Why are ATM cards being distributed to farmers after distribution of compensation in Maharashtra?

Crop Loss Compensation: Relief amount of Rs 406 crore has been paid to 7 lakh farmers of Nanded district. But in many districts, farmers are still waiting for it.

Farmers have suffered a lot due to rains and floods in Maharashtra.

Due to heavy rains and floods in August-September, crops were damaged on a large scale in Maharashtra. After which the state government announced a relief package of Rs 10,000 crore. In December, the amount of compensation has been deposited in the accounts of the farmers. But in the meantime, a bank in Nanded has also started giving ATM cards to farmers. Is this the way to fulfill the target of making ATM cards or whether it was done for the convenience of the farmers, that is the big question.

406 crore has been paid in the accounts of 7 lakh farmers in the district. Now the board of directors of a bank has decided to distribute ATM cards to farmers. The reason given is that so that there is no crowd of farmers to withdraw money together. Therefore, bank employees will go to the villages and distribute cards to the farmers. On the other hand, in some parts of Marathwada, the farmers have still not received the compensation amount.

Relief distribution is in the final stage in Nanded

In Maharashtra this year there has been heavy damage to the Kharif crop. Farmers were facing financial crunch during the festival. Therefore, the state government had decided to give some relief to the farmers during Diwali. Under this, Rs 406.14 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 7 lakh farmers of Nanded. The relief distribution process is now in its final stage. Along with this, it has been decided to distribute ATM cards to the farmers at the village level so that there is no rush of farmers in the bank.

Many farmers await relief in seven districts

In Marathwada, except Nanded district, relief amount is being given to the farmers in different phases in all the seven districts. In some places, due to technical problems, the amount is not being deposited in the accounts of the farmers. Apart from the help of the state government, the farmers who had claimed crop loss, the concerned insurance company is not ready to pay the claim. However, the District Collector of Nanded had ordered to check the claims of the farmers.

The administration claims that those whose crops have been damaged will get compensation. Some farmers of Dharmabad taluka got money from the district bank on 4th December. However, many farmers are still waiting for this.

Hence the decision to distribute ATM cards.

The amount of grant has been deposited in the accounts of lakhs of farmers of the district. In Marathwada, the first full payment has been made by the state government in Nanded district. In such a situation, the crowd of farmers could not gather to withdraw money. Not only this, the threat of corona has not been averted yet, in view of which the bank has decided to distribute ATM cards to the farmers. The employees of the bank will go to distribute this card till the farmers’ homes. The farmers who will have difficulty in getting ATM, their payment will be made from the bank.
