Anil Punjabi, President, Eastern Region, Travel Agents Federation of India, said, “Many people are traveling to tourist places for family gatherings, who have not been able to meet each other for a long time due to restrictions. ”

Tourists are showing constant interest in Bengal

He said, “This time the response and bookings have exceeded our expectations. We are getting very good response. If you compare it with the pre-Covid times, for example, 2019, then the revival is around 60 percent. We are hopeful that it will increase further in the coming days.” Raj Basu, convener of the Association for Conservation of Tourism, said that keeping in mind the COVID safety norms, many travelers are taking more interest in quieter places this time. “People are preferring to stay at one place for at least three to four days instead of visiting many tourist places,” he said.

Tourists have special interest towards North Bengal

Raj Basu said that tourists have shown special interest in four districts of North Bengal- Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri for this festive season. He said, “Most of the rural tourist places like Sittong, Taghdah, Tinchule, Pedong have been booked for Durga Puja and booking has started for Diwali and Christmas holidays as well.” The weather is also good and in recent times the interest of tourists has increased towards North Bengal. In such a situation, more and more tourists are expected to come to Bengal during Durga Puja and after that.
