According to the data of the Health Department, more than 800 new cases have been registered in West Bengal for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. The state recorded 806 new cases on Tuesday, which is one more than the previous day’s figure, now the corona cases have reached 15,88,066, while the death toll in 15 fresh fatalities now stands at 19,081.
Corona cases increased by 25 percent
The number of fresh coronavirus cases on Sunday and Saturday stood at 989 and 974 respectively. Amid the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in West Bengal, the Center has asked the state government to immediately review the cases and deaths. It has also emphasized the importance of ensuring a COVID-safe festival. The Health Ministry also said that there was an increase of more than 25 per cent in new cases in Kolkata in the week ended October 21 as compared to the previous week, with 217 cases in the week ending October 14 and 21 in the week ended October 21. 272 cases were reported.
Concern over rising cases of Corona
Among the fresh infections on Tuesday, Kolkata had the highest number of 248 in the state. It also recorded six of the 15 new deaths. Since Monday, 38,681 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, taking the total number of such tests to 1,89,95,979. A health department official said on Tuesday the state administered 9,93,576 doses of the vaccine, taking the total number of people who received at least one dose of the vaccine to 7,03,51,402.
Primary and secondary health centers will be opened to test dengue and malaria
On the other hand, in view of the increasing cases of dengue and malaria, Kolkata Municipal Corporation Administrator Firhad Hakim said that five primary and secondary health centers will be opened in the metropolis. The first model secondary health center will be opened in Khidirpur. It will be made operational by March next year. Firhad Hakim said that there will also be a provision of indoor ward in the Secondary Health Center, where patients will be admitted and treated. Secondary health centers will be opened with 100 beds. There will also be a system of chest X-ray, USG and some blood tests. At the same time, there will be only primary screening system in the Secondary Health Center.
