After the security lapse in Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to give a big gift to West Bengal on Friday. PM will inaugurate the second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute in Kolkata today. PM Modi will inaugurate it through video conferencing. The complex has been built at a cost of Rs 530 crore. Out of which about Rs 400 crore has been given by the Center and the rest by the Government of West Bengal in the ratio of 75:25. With this, the cancer patients of eastern and north-eastern region of the country will get a lot of convenience from the institute.
This new campus has a comprehensive cancer unit with 460 beds. Which is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. This campus has been built under the vision of PM by expanding and upgrading health facilities in all parts of the country. CM Mamta Banerjee will also attend this virtual inauguration from her residence.
Cancer patients will get relief
The CNCI was heavily burdened with cancer patients and the need for its expansion was felt for some time now. With the construction of new premises of CNCI, the burden on it will be reduced. The new campus will have a 460-bed Comprehensive Cancer Unit equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The PMO said that the complex will also serve as a state-of-the-art center for cancer research.
Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute is a cancer medical hospital in India. It is one of the 25 regional cancer centers in India. This institute is near Jatin Das Park Metro Station in Kolkata. It was established on 2 January 1950 in the memory of great freedom fighter Chittaranjan Das. And then it was named ‘Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital’.
Help will be available in the treatment of patients of Northeast
There is facility of Nuclear Medicine, 3.0 Tesla MRI, 128 Slice CT Scanner. There are also advanced facilities like Radionuclide Therapy Unit, Endoscopy Suite, Modern Brachytherapy Unit. The campus will also serve as an advanced cancer research facility. This will go a long way in the treatment and care of cancer patients, especially in the eastern and north-eastern parts of the country.
