A major fire broke out at a paint factory in Shivpur in Howrah district, adjacent to Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, on Wednesday afternoon. In this, a total of 18 people including the management of the factory are reported to be injured.

The police officer said, “The workers were inside the factory at that time. Some people managed to escape, while some were injured due to the fire.”
“Some people have been taken to a nearby hospital, while some have been taken to Kolkata for better treatment,” he said. The official said that six fire tenders were used to douse the fire. He said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. He told that the surrounding buildings have been evacuated.
Horrible fire in Howrah’s paint factory
According to the preliminary investigation, the fire started due to the explosion of an AC machine of the factory. The fire spread rapidly due to the accumulation of a large amount of flammable material in the paint factory. This created panic among the people working in the factory. Many people got caught in the fire. The fire department was immediately informed. Initially two fire engines reached the spot. Considering the magnitude of the fire, four more locomotives were brought in. Firefighters with the help of the people of a nearby basti brought out the people trapped in the fire, although by then some people were badly scorched. All of them were immediately sent by ambulance to a hospital in Kolkata.
The whole area was filled with loud bangs and black smoke.
Local people say that on Wednesday afternoon they heard a loud bang in the paint factory. After this, strong flames of fire started rising from there, which was spreading rapidly. He saw the workers running out of the factory wildly. The magnitude of the fire can be gauged from the fact that a plume of black smoke spread in the sky. After that there was a stir in the whole area. Later the injured were admitted to the local hospital.
