In West Bengal, questions are being raised continuously regarding the ongoing political violence after the assembly election results. In this regard, PM Narendra Modi himself has also expressed concern. 25 Intellectuals of Bihar have written a letter to Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan regarding the Bengal violence. The letter also demanded compensation for the families of the victims of violence.
Intellectuals in their letter have demanded the arrest of the accused along with stopping the violence. The intellectuals who have written this letter include 5 Padma Shri awardees. A copy of this letter has also been sent to President Ram Nath Kovind, PM Narendra Modi, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
What is demanded in the letter?
The letter said that the Bengal violence has shaken the Constitution, constitutional institutions and our firm belief in Indian democracy. Many cases of violence, murder, rape have been registered. People belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, poor, socially and economically disadvantaged groups have been subjected to violence. Women have also been victims of violence on a large scale. The case is not being registered by the administration. In such a situation, it was demanded through the letter that the ongoing violence in Bengal should be stopped immediately. Those responsible should be punished. Provide adequate protection and compensation to the victims.
Which celebrities wrote the letter
Those who wrote letters on Bengal violence include Padma Shri awardee Dr. Jitendra Singh, Dr. RN Singh, Dr. Narendra Prasad, Dr. Vimal Jain and Dr. Shyam Sharma. Apart from these, former Justice Rajendra Prasad, Kathak dancer and former IPS Shobhana Narayanan, IMA President Dr. Sahajanand Kumar, former DGP DN Gautam and former Chief of Army Staff Lt. There is also General Ashok Choudhary. A total of 25 persons have demanded action on Bengal violence from Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan through a letter.
