BJP MP Varun Gandhi has talked about farmers in his letter and on what issues, what he has written in his letter, you also read, he writes-

Respected Chief Minister,

During the last four years, you have taken many steps in the interest of farmers, which I appreciate and thank you through this letter. Recently, a delegation of farmers from my Lok Sabha constituency Pilibhit came and met me. Farmers from other districts of the state also keep meeting me about their problems. Farmers have requested to bring their problems to your notice through me and get them resolved. Some of my suggestions regarding the problems of farmers are sent for your consideration-

1. Sugarcane is a major crop in my area and Uttar Pradesh. Sugarcane farmers informed me that the cost of sugarcane has gone up a lot, whereas in the last four seasons, the rate of sugarcane has been increased by only Rs 10 per quintal. Second, you have made the payment of sugarcane more than the previous governments, which is commendable, but even today some payment of sugarcane is due for this season. It is my humble request to you that in view of the economic problems of sugarcane farmers, rising cost of sugarcane and inflation rate, according to the demand of sugarcane farmers, the government will increase the rate of sugarcane (SAP) to at least Rs 400 per quintal in the upcoming sugarcane season 2021-22. Declare and ensure to get all the arrears of sugarcane paid immediately.

1a. The sharecroppers in the state are unable to supply their sugarcane to the mills, due to which they are forced to sell their sugarcane at the crusher at a huge loss. You are requested to provide the facility of supplying sugarcane to the mills to the sharecroppers also. Apart from this, sugarcane farmers are requested to make available to them cheap seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc. in proper quantity through simple process. To prevent various diseases engaged in sugarcane crop, please take immediate action by directing the sugarcane department.

2. There is a demand of the farmers of Uttar Pradesh and my region’s second important crop paddy that the government should make arrangements to buy all their paddy crop at MSP. You have made a commendable increase in government procurement of crops during your tenure, but still many farmers are not getting benefited from the system of government procurement. In this regard, my humble request to you is that the government should ensure procurement of all the paddy and wheat of all the farmers by arranging adequate number of procurement centers during the upcoming paddy and then wheat procurement season. The government should consider giving a separate bonus of Rs 200 per quintal on government purchase of wheat and paddy.

3. The farmers have also requested that the rates of both tube well and residential electricity in rural areas have increased very much, due to which they are facing a lot of difficulty in paying their bills. It is my humble request to you that in view of the economic difficulties of the farmers, immediate reduction in the rates of electricity should be given to the farmers.

4. In rural areas, the problem of stray animals has taken a formidable form, which is damaging the crops day and night. I humbly request you that to get rid of the problem of stray animals, the government should immediately take the construction of gaushalas and other effective steps.

5. Expressing special gratitude to you and the central government for PM Kisan Yojana, the farmers have requested to increase the amount of this scheme from Rs 6000 to Rs 12,000 per year per farmer family. In this regard, I request that the state government can consider giving an additional Rs 6000 on its behalf.

6. The farmers have also requested that the laborers of MNREGA scheme should also be engaged in agricultural work. With this, the money being spent in this scheme will be put to good use and the cost of farmers will be reduced.

7. In view of the increasing agricultural cost, farmers have requested that at least Rs 20 per liter subsidy should be given to the farmers on diesel used for agricultural purposes.

I hope you will consider these suggestions sympathetically in the interest of farmers.
