The Uttarakhand High Court on Tuesday heard a petition challenging Kejriwal’s free electricity guarantee card to provide 300 units of free electricity by the Aam Aadmi Party. After hearing the matter, the court has fixed the next hearing date for December 8. In the petition, Election Commission of India, Election Commission of Uttarakhand, Aam Aadmi Party’s CM candidate Ajay Kothiyal has been made a party in the petition. The matter was heard in Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari Single Bench.
Sanjay Jain, a resident of Vikasnagar and a member of the Uttarakhand Minorities Commission, has filed a petition in the High Court. It has been said in the petition that on behalf of Colonel Ajay Kothiyal of Aam Aadmi Party, Kejriwal is being given free electricity guarantee card to give 300 units of free electricity to the people of Uttarakhand when his government comes.
Such registration is completely unconstitutional.
A condition has been placed in this guarantee card that first people will have to make a missed call on the mobile number issued by the party. After this, a guarantee card of 300 units of electricity is being issued to the people. This card has to be kept by the members, only then they will be given 300 units of electricity free of cost if the government is formed. The petitioner said that getting such registration done by the Aam Aadmi Party is completely unconstitutional.

Giving such a guarantee card is against section 123 of the Representation of the People Act. This act comes under the category of corrupt practice. This behavior is misleading to the public. The petitioner said that they do not oppose it, but giving such guarantee cards without the formation of the government is to cheat the public.
