CBI inquiry recommended in the case of businessman Manish Gupta’s death

The UP government has recommended a CBI inquiry into the death of Kanpur businessman Manish Gupta. The government has decided that till the time the CBI does not take over the investigation of the case, the investigation will be done by the SIT in Kanpur.

The Uttar Pradesh government has sent a proposal to the central government recommending a CBI probe into the death of a Kanpur businessman after he was allegedly beaten up by policemen in Gorakhpur. The state government has also decided that until the CBI takes over the investigation of the case, the investigation will be shifted to Kanpur where the SIT will investigate the matter.

On Friday, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avnish Kumar Awasthi said that in the case of the tragic death of Kanpur resident Manish Gupta, the State Government has sent a recommendation to the Government of India to conduct a CBI inquiry as per the directions of the Chief Minister. He said that till the time the CBI starts its investigation by taking the case in its own hands, the investigation of the case will be transferred from Gorakhpur to Kanpur by a specially constituted SIT (Special Investigation Team).

Government job for Manish’s wife

He said that instructions have also been given to appoint Gupta’s wife as OSD (Officer on Special Duty) in Kanpur Development Authority and the Chief Minister has given instructions to give financial assistance of Rs 40 lakh to the family by the state government.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met the relatives of a Kanpur businessman on Thursday. Apart from ensuring a fair investigation, he had announced job and financial assistance to the wife of the deceased. Late last Monday night, police searched a hotel in Ramgarh Tal area of ​​Gorakhpur district. It is alleged that during interrogation of three businessmen who had stayed in a hotel room on the basis of identity card of another person, they were beaten up by the police. One of them, Manish Gupta, had died due to a head injury. On Monday night, Gupta was staying at the hotel with two friends at the time of the incident.

Murder charge against 6 policemen

A murder case was registered against all the six policemen accused in this case and they were suspended and many including the SHO were arrested. Manish Gupta’s wife Meenakshi Gupta told Thursday after meeting the Chief Minister that the Chief Minister has accepted all our demands and we are satisfied with the meeting.

He said that the CM has sought an application for CBI inquiry as per our demand and has accepted my demand of government job as well as financial security for my son’s future. Meenakshi said that in view of the seriousness of the matter, the Chief Minister said that the matter would be transferred from Gorakhpur to Kanpur. He said that like the head of a family, the Chief Minister has listened to all our problems and I am grateful to him.
