Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra left for Lakhimpur Kheri from Lucknow late at night to meet the farmers.
After dodging the police for about five hours, at around 5.30 am on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Police took Priyanka Gandhi into custody from Hargaon police station area.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi left for Lakhimpur Kheri after midnight on Sunday to meet the farmers. Before reaching Lakhimpur Kheri, the police took Priyanka Gandhi into custody from Hargaon. The Uttar Pradesh Police had placed her under house arrest. However, after dodging the police for about five hours, at around 5.30 am on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Police took Priyanka Gandhi into custody from Hargaon police station area. Priyanka has been taken to a guest house in Sitapur district. UP Congress has tweeted and asked people to reach the area in support. Taking Priyanka Gandhi into custody, the police has taken her to Sindhauli in Sitapur district.
Rakesh Tikait reached Lakhimpur with hundreds of supporters
Meanwhile, Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait along with hundreds of supporters reached Lakhimpur and took stock of the situation. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said that the people of the village will be informed about this, all those who are waiting have to be told. Rakesh Singh Tikait said that he will sit and talk with the people of the committee about what to do next.
The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress has been continuously sharing information through Twitter about the progress of party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s convoy, and alleged attempts by the police to stop her.

‘This is a country of farmers, not a fiefdom of BJP’s cruel ideology’
Priyanka has targeted the BJP over the incident of violence and wanted to know whether farmers have the right to survive in this country. He said, ‘How much does the BJP hate the farmers of the country? Don’t they have a right to live? If they raise their voice, will you shoot them, trample on the car? Enough. This is a country of farmers, not a fiefdom of BJP’s brutal ideology. Kisan Satyagraha will be strengthened and the voice of the farmer will be louder.

Heavy police deployment in Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri
At the same time, a large number of police have been deployed between Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri to prevent any leader from entering Lakhimpur Kheri. Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi, who was preparing to go to Lakhimpur Kheri, was placed under house arrest at Kaul House in Lucknow. Priyanka Gandhi and Deepender Singh Hooda reached Lucknow on Sunday night.
A total of eight people, including four farmers, died in the violence.
