Amidst the counting of votes, reports of polling agents getting corona infected are also coming to the fore. Eight polling agents have been found corona infected in Chhibramau tehsil of Kannauj. All of them had a rapid antigen test. He was sent back after being tested positive. At the same time, 61 polling agents have been found corona infected in Block-10 of Kanpur Nagar district. The counting of the three-stage panchayat elections in four districts in 75 districts started from 8 am on Sunday after the Supreme Court stopped the counting of votes for the panchayat elections. In the counting of all 75 districts of the state, a total of 12, 89, 830 candidates are to be decided for the posts of Zilla Panchayat Member, Kshetra Panchayat Member, Gram Panchayat Pradhan and Gram Panchayat Member.
According to the Election Commission, seven candidates of Zilla Panchayat member, 2,005 of Kshetra Panchayat member, 178 of Gram Panchayat Pradhan and 3,17,127 candidates of Gram Panchayat member have been elected unopposed. In this way, a total of 3,19,317 candidates have been declared unopposed. At the same time, just before counting of panchayat elections in Ballia district, a village head candidate died. According to the family of candidate Shailesh Singh, his health suddenly worsened on Sunday. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Voting was held for the three-tier panchayat elections in four phases in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. In the first phase, polling was held on 15 April, in the second 19 April, in the third, on 26 April and in the fourth phase on 29 April.
