The UP government has approved the organization of Kartik Mela in Garhmukteshwar this year. The government has approved to organize the fair with the corona protocol. After the permission of the government, the Meerut district administration has started preparations. Karthik fair will be organized in Garhmukteshar of Hapur district with full gaiety with Corona Protocol. In view of the increasing outbreak of Corona last year, the fair was not organized. The government had not even approved the event. The fair has been approved amidst the decreasing cases of corona in UP.
This year Kartik Mela will be organized from 9 to 21 November. On November 18, the main Ganga Snan (Ganga Holi Dip) will take place. The importance of this historical fair dates back to the Mahabharata period. Along with western UP, lakhs of devotees from different parts of the country reach Garhmukteshwar for bathing in the Ganges. Every year a fair is organized after Diwali. The UP Home Department has made a tweet about the fair. In which it has been said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved to celebrate Kartik Mela in Garhmukteshwar in a grand manner.
Kartik fair will be held in Garhmukteshwar
While reviewing the preparations for the fair, Hapur District Magistrate Anuj Singh held a meeting with Chief Development Officer Uday Singh, Additional District Magistrate Shraddha Shandilyan and other officials on Wednesday. During this, he directed the officials to deploy drones at the fair site. So that a close watch on the activities of the people and security can be ensured. The DM of Hapur directed the officials to set up a corona testing center and a temporary hospital at the fair site. Along with this, cleanliness, barricading, lighting, boats, watch towers and trained life saviors and divers were also instructed to ensure round the clock availability at the fair site.
Asia’s largest cattle fair in Hapur
A large number of tents are set up on the banks of the Ganges during the fair. Actually, a large number of people reach the fair with their families. People enjoy many sports like Kabaddi, Wrestling, Kho-Kho in the fair as well as folk songs by the artists. Asia’s largest cattle fair is organized during the Kartik fair. Prajapati Samaj Kalyan Yuva Samiti President Bhagwan Singh and General Secretary Shri Ram handed over a charter of demands to the district administration. In this, adequate facilities have been demanded for the cattle fair.
