Mubarakpur in assembly election 2017 (Mubarakpur Assembly Seat) By registering a victory for the fifth time, BSP waved its flag. From 1996 to 2017, the BSP candidate has won this seat. In all the past elections, there was a close contest between SP and BSP. In 2017 also, Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali won while saving his seat. If he got 70,705 votes, SP’s Akhilesh Yadav had to stay in second place by getting 70,017 votes. BJP’s Laxman Maurya stood third. Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali became MLA for the first time in 2012 from Mubarakpur assembly seat of BSP.
2012 SP won 9 out of 10 seats in Azamgarh district, but Guddu Jamali won the Mubarakpur assembly seat by getting 50128 votes. In 2007, Chandra Dev of Bahujan Samaj Party defeated Ram Darshan of Samajwadi Party by getting 43069 votes. Devendra of Bharatiya Janata Party came third with 29775 votes. In 2002, Chandradev Ram of Bahujan Samaj Party defeated Yashwant Singh by getting 53883 votes.

The total voters here are 2,92,211.
