After the Mumbai Sakinaka Rape and the subsequent death of the woman, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has swung into action. In this regard, he had given some instructions by holding a meeting with senior police officers on Sunday. On Monday too, he held an important meeting with senior officials of the state regarding women’s safety and women’s atrocities preventive measures, crime against women and child abuse preventive measures. In this meeting, he gave some necessary instructions.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said in the meeting that the police will not only protect women, but the Center and the state government should jointly prepare a plan to provide shelter to destitute and weak women. He said that women taking shelter in places like footpaths, railway stations, bus stops will have to work closely with the central government to mobilize facilities for them, especially at night. The police will do the work of security, but the state government and the central government will also have to work together to provide basic facilities to such women.
If there is a demand for central agencies to investigate everything, then the morale of the state police will fall.
The Chief Minister said that there is a demand to take the services of central investigative agencies for investigation of many cases. In the past also, the police and other officials of the state have completed the investigation of many complex cases in an efficient manner. Therefore, due to such efforts, the morale of the state police should not fall, we all have to take care of it. It is now necessary to give harsh punishment and message to those who commit atrocities against women. In every such effort of the state police, the government will give full support.
Some important instructions of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray
In this meeting, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray gave some very important instructions. One of the directions he gave was that there have been several incidents of auto rickshaws being used in cases of atrocities against women. In such a situation, it is necessary to check the unauthorized transfer of auto rickshaws. While registering, it should be made necessary for the respective license holders to give their information in the local police station.
It is necessary to keep the information of those coming from other states. Where they are coming from, where they are going, it is necessary for the administration to know about all these. The Chief Minister said that he will take an opinion about this in the meeting with NITI Aayog to be held on Tuesday. For the women police, he specially instructed that they should try to communicate with the victim women by taking them into confidence and listen carefully to their minor complaints.
