Jammu and Kashmir Police said that security forces on Saturday arrested two associates of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorists in Pulwama district and recovered ammunition and material used in the crime from them. They have been identified as Muzammil Ayyub Bhat and Suhail Manzoor Mohand, a police spokesman said. Both are residents of Shahabad Kharpora Bala Lal Gam, Awantipora.
“Two associates of terrorists of banned terrorist organization Hizbul-Mujahideen have been arrested in Awantipora area of South Kashmir district,” the spokesman said. The spokesman said that ammunition and material used in the crime have been recovered from them, which includes 383 cartridges of AK-47.
“The arrested terrorist associates were in touch with Hizbul-Mujahideen commanders and were involved in carrying arms and ammunition besides providing shelter and other logistical support to strengthen the terror network,” he said. The spokesperson said that a case has been registered and investigation has been started.
3 Lashkar links arrested for killing salesman in Srinagar
Just a few days ago, three persons linked to the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba have been arrested for the murder of a salesman working at the shop of a Kashmiri Pandit businessman here earlier this month. The police gave this information on Tuesday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ejaz Ahmed Lone, Naseer Ahmad Shah and Shaukat Ahmed Dar from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a police spokesman said. He said terrorists had killed Ibrahim Ahmed, a worker at Sandeep Mawa’s shop near Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar, in the second week of November.
A case under relevant sections of the law was registered at Maharajganj police station and a special investigation team was formed to probe the crime, the official said. He said that during the investigation, the authorities came to know about the involvement of Lone, Shah and Dar in the crime. “He was later arrested in the case and during interrogation he confessed that he was involved in the crime,” the spokesperson said. He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that all three are affiliated to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and they carried out the attack from across the border on the instructions of their masters.
“Also it was learned that the three arrested persons were in contact with terrorist masters in Pakistan for the last four months,” the official said. On their disclosure, the weapons used in the crime – a pistol and seven bullets and a grenade, among other materials have been recovered. He said the car used by the trio in committing the crime has also been confiscated.
