During the crackdown to nab the dreaded terrorist of international level, the CBI was seen to have a well on one side and a clear moat on the other side.

Central Bureau of Investigation

It is a true anecdote about 26 years from now. That is, the story of about three decades ago in which the unarmed CBI team has an interesting anecdote of “winning”. This is the story of September 1995. A few days before this anecdote i.e. on 31 August 1995, Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and 17 people along with him were killed in a human bomb blast. The Punjab Police and CBI were wandering empty-by-hand to catch the killers. Investigation Since the Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh was murdered, the Hindustani government handed over the investigation to the CBI.

September 1995 was a Sunday. In those days, encounter specialist IPS Neeraj Kumar, who was the DIG of CBI, had gone to the golf course in Delhi. Hearing the news that two informers present at the golf course to Neeraj Kumar, Neeraj Kumar was once lynched. The whistleblower was such a sensation that it was difficult to believe anyone from hearing it for the first time, it was impossible. Neeraj Kumar, who himself got acquainted with the news of the informant, told the whole thing to Arun Bhagat, who was then the CBI Director. Since the matter was to catch the chief conspirator who murdered 17 people, including the Chief Minister of a state, in one moment.

CBI officials did not agree to seek help from the state police

So CBI Director Bhagat also told DIG CBI Neeraj Kumar that without any hesitation, immediately try to arrest this dangerous snake of Babbar Khalsa International, whatever it may be. While granting this permission, Arun Bhagat suggested no way out of this, how will the CBI be caught by unarmed terrorists so dangerous? However, soon after receiving the green signal from the CBI director, Neeraj Kumar called the confidant and the CBI SP Satish Jha, who was posted in Mumbai CBI, on a special flight with his team to Delhi. Neeraj Kumar, who reached Delhi, told CBI SP Satish Jha that the Chief Conspirator of the Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh murder case and to hand over the dreaded Kharakhu Jagtar Singh Tara of Babbar Khalsa International. Tara is hiding in South Delhi these days.

The difficulty was that both the CBI officials were not ready to seek help from any state police, while Kharakhu Jagtar Singh Tara kept a deadly rifle and cyanide capsule like AK-56 with him at all times. The second biggest problem of the CBI was that as the investigating agency, its officers were not handcuffed. The officers and employees of the CBI were always unarmed, while hitting the AK-56 equipped kharaku was a battle of crosses. Life and death had to be decided on the spot. That is, the dreaded prey and hunters were unarmed. Even then the hunter i.e. the CBI team was not ready to send the victim alive, away from his jaw at any cost.

CBI devised strategy to catch terrorist in Delhi

CBI team chief Neeraj Kumar, trapped in the proverb “What does not die,” finally did what he should have thought a hundred times before doing, but not thought. Neeraj Kumar knew that if he wins this time, he will be the biggest win in his police job. If you lose, then that defeat can also prove to be the last day of life. Neeraj Kumar, along with Satish Jha, arrived in Delhi from Mumbai, with the other CBI officers Raman Tyagi, DK Pardesi and Nair strategized at his government bungalow in Delhi. The difficult question in the meeting was that on meeting the terrorist Tara armed with AK-56 and cyanide capsules, who and how would he be the first to be caught by the CBI team?

If the terrorist Tara fired on the CBI team, then everyone will be killed. Even if he gave his life by eating cyanide, the CBI’s misery was still fixed. That means during the madhapacchi that Babbar Khalsa was trying to nab the dreaded terrorist of that international level, the CBI was seeing a well on one side and a clear gap on the other side. However, following the adage that what does not die, CBI team chief Neeraj Kumar arrived from Mumbai and Delhi police constables Dharamvir Singh, Surendra Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Anchal Singh, posted in Delhi Traffic Police in those days , SP H.C., posted in CBI STF. Singh, Assistant Sub Inspector Hawa Singh was taken along.

CBI arrested Khadku Tara in guerrilla style

However, ASI Anchal Singh, posted in Delhi Police Traffic Wing, had no connection with the CBI in those days. He suddenly went to meet Neeraj Kumar that day without any reason. Yet when Neeraj Kumar offered him to join his operation. So the policeman Anchal Singh could not deny it. After this, the unarmed CBI team went out into the streets of Safdarjung Enclave in Delhi to arrest that dreadful Kharakhu Jagtar Singh Tara of Babbar Khalsa. As soon as the eyes of the CBI team were received from Khadku Tara, he was captured alive in guerrilla style. Also caught the other partner present with him. The CBI team came out of his office unarmed about terrorist Tara. An even more dangerous incident took place on the way when the CBI team was returning to its office regarding Khalistan Kharaku. On the way, the knocked down car of the CBI team went bad, in which it was returning after sitting such a dreaded terrorist.

That means that the unarmed CBI team was standing helpless on the crowded street of Delhi for the dreaded khadku who had flown 17-18 people including RD Chief Minister Beant Singh in a moment with human bombs (RDX). Neeraj Kumar, Joint Director of CBI and then Delhi Police Commissioner, also confirms this. During a conversation with NewsNCR, Neeraj Kumar said, “26 years ago, God and the unarmed CBI team had given their support in that raid. Time was taking our test step by step. We could see defeat in every victory and victory in every defeat. I had thought that if my team had lost on that day it would have been the defeat of the entire CBI investigation agency and if we had won that day, it was a memorable victory for the CBI and the entire Hindustani government. “
