Maharashtra government and Anil Deshmukh reached Supreme Court
At the same time, the Maharashtra government and Anil Deshmukh have filed a petition in the Supreme Court, demanding the cancellation of the order of the CBI investigation on the allegations of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Paramvir Singh. It has been said in the petition that the Central Government is making political use of CBI. Two important questions have been raised in the petitions of both the state government and Anil Deshmukh.
The first question is that without hearing Anil Deshmukh, the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI inquiry. No order can be ordered unilaterally. Second is that the CBI itself is in the circle of questions. The central government is making political use of CBI. An interim director is overseeing the work of CBI. In such a situation, what is the rationale for giving investigation to CBI? Does the High Court not trust the state government’s investigation? The petition also states that Anil Deshmukh has resigned from his post. There is no reason that they will be able to interfere in any investigation of the state government.
