Many top medical experts have welcomed the advisory of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), in which the use of plasma therapy for the treatment of corona patients has been removed from the clinical management guidelines.

Plasma therapy promoting corona variants
He said, ‘I think it is wise that plasma therapy has been removed from the list because this therapy has failed to reduce mortality in this period of one year. Every step should be taken solely on the basis of evidence. Some scientists have said that plasma therapy is promoting the mutation and variants of the corona.
The rapid increase in COVID-19 cases across the country was accompanied by an increase in plasma demand, which many experts believe has caused more harm than good. The government found that plasma therapy in treating COVID-19 patients has not proved to be beneficial in eliminating severe illness and reducing cases of death.
Awareness regarding plasma therapy was done
During the meeting of the National Task Force-ICMR set up for COVID-19 last week, all the members agreed to remove plasma therapy from clinical management guidelines, after which the government’s decision came out. Plasma therapy was not found to be effective in treating COVID-19 patients.
An Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) official said the task force removed plasma therapy by amending the clinical consultation on treatment for adult COVID-19 patients. Although some medical experts and scientists, Principal Scientific Advisor K.K. Vijayaraghavan was cautioned by the use of plasma therapy to treat corona in the country as irrational and non-scientific.
