The official website of Indian Oil shows that for the fifth consecutive day today, it has been decided not to change the prices of petrol and diesel. Earlier, in the last 10 days, the oil companies had given relief to the common man by reducing prices 3 times. Prices of petrol and diesel were last reduced on 30 March. During that time, the price of petrol per liter was reduced by 22 paise and the price of diesel by 23 paise.
Even after the prices are stable today, the price of one liter of petrol in the capital Delhi is 90.56 rupees. Whereas, the price of diesel here today is Rs 80.87 per liter. Similarly, the price of petrol in the financial capital Mumbai today is Rs 96.98 and diesel is Rs 87.96 per liter. This information is taken from the official website of Indian Oil. Due to the tax levied in different states, there is a difference in the prices of petrol and diesel at different places. Apart from this, there is also a difference in the transportation charge of the fuel.

How much tax is charged on petrol-diesel?
Overall, the central and state governments levy about 60 per cent tax on petrol and about 54 per cent on diesel. The central government charges Rs 32.90 per liter of petrol as excise duty. Whereas, for diesel it is Rs 31.80 per liter.
Prices of petrol and diesel are released every day at 6 am. Oil companies fix the price of retail fuel in the international market, considering the price of crude oil and the rupee’s position against the dollar.
